A groundbreaking date has been set for the renovations at Lake Lorna Doone Park, located at 1519 West Church Street. On Tuesday, June 4th at 10:30am the City of Orlando and Florida Citrus Sports will break ground on the massive improvement project meant to create a signature park on the city’s west side. The park is scheduled to close on Tuesday, May 28.
Located in the shadows of Camping World Stadium, the 12-acre park will undergo a more than $8 million renovation thanks to a public-private partnership between the city, Florida Citrus Sports and the National Football League. Some of the improvements to the park include a walking loop and the installation of fitness stations, a new inclusive playground, two new basketball courts with covered seating and a water spray park. Other improvements include increased parking, new restroom facilities, benches, drinking fountains, lake overlooks, a fountain in the lake and a community garden.
The transformation begins Tuesday, May 28th when the fencing is installed surrounding the entire park.
